Camp Lejeune, or Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, is a military base located in the state of New Carolina, more exactly in Jacksonville, the county seat of Onslow County. This United States military training facility spans on 246 square miles, becoming one of the largest facilities of the kind in the country. Camp Lejeune also has 14 miles of beaches, which allow a thorough amphibious assault training. The fact that Camp Lejeune is located between Wilmington and Morehead City, which are deep-water ports, makes it a great place for fast deployments.
Camp Lejeune was built in 1941, and it has been operating ever since. There are five satellite facilities that serve Camp Lejeune, the main base.
