Camp Pendleton Car Rental Comparison

Camp Pendleton, or Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, is a military base located in the state of California, in San Diego County. Camp Pendleton was built in March 1942, and it has been in use since September 25, 1942. This military base is one of the greatest in the country, as it trains hundreds of marines and soldiers every year. Camp Pendleton allows for a wide array of training programs, but as it is bordered by the long beaches of Oceanside, the amphibious assault training is the most popular. Other types of training include landing beaches, aircraft bombing or strafing ranges.

Camp Pendleton was named after Marine General Joseph Henry Pendleton, who died in the same year when Camp Pendleton was built. However, he had been advocating for the need of setting up a military base on the west coast for a very long time. If you visit Camp Pendleton, you will be surprised with the fact that the place is also a flora and fauna sanctuary. Numerous birds inhabit the place, like the rare Western Snowy plover and California Gnatcatcher. Among the rare mammals that live in Camp Pendleton, we can recall the Pacific pocket mouse and Stephen's kangaroo rat.
