The Shenandoah National Park is one of the most visited places in Charlottesville. The site offers many activity and leisure opportunities, as well as an amazing setting for them, including a portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah River. The park is a natural reservation and a recreational park at the same time, including all sorts of establishments, such as: the Skyline Drive (the natural wildlife area), the Backcountry camping, other camping sites, lodges and cabins. Natural scenery can be seen here in the form of beautiful waterfalls and on one of the two marked hiking trails - the Dark Hollow Falls Trail and the Stony Man Trail.
The Virginia Discovery Museum was opened in 1981 and it is dedicated to the education of children aged 1 to 10, living or visiting in Charlottesville. This amazing facility has formed its creed around helping young minds understand and learn about all the aspects and subjects they are going to come across in school and later on in life. The collections and exhibitions follow all the domains of interest: science, arts, history, nature and humanities. It is one of the tools used in the learning process by all the schools in the city. The museum is a great opportunity for children to discover new things and for parents accompanying them to remember general knowledges.
The Corner is the main commercial district of Charlottesville. The streets are filled with shopping establishments, department stores, bars, clubs, restaurants and more. This is the perfect place to go shopping and to have a delicious meal. The streets are generally full of students, as it is close to the campus of the University in Charlottesville.
