Best time to visit Denver
Denver has more sunny days than Miami, making it a great place to visit any time of the year. The summers are warm, with cooler temperatures during night time, and the winters are mild. If you want to go skiing in Denver, the best time to go is between late November and March. For mountain sports such as biking, hiking and river rafting, the ideal time to visit the region is between May and October. These months are popular times to visit, so the rates could potentially be more expensive. If you prefer fewer crowds and lower rates, visit Denver between April and May, or from September to October. If you are visiting during the baseball season, be sure to head over to Coors Field, which is the home of the Colorado Rockies, and catch a home run.
Driving tips in Denver
Take care on the roads where there may be larger animals like elk or deer crossing. Many accidents are caused by motorists taking sudden evasive action to avoid hitting the animal on rural roads around Colorado. With so many winding roads through the Rocky Mountain region, it is a good idea to slow down before you reach a curve. It is common for drivers to lose control on sharp corners. Denver gets its fair share of snowfall. Check the weather report before you head off on your journey to avoid hazardous driving conditions. For live traffic updates and road closures, check Fox31's map of Denver.
In Colorado, you are required by law to have your headlights on between sunset and sunrise. You should also use your headlights during the day at times of poor visibility. If you are traveling into the mountains, take extra caution and watch out for rocks on the road. Light rail vehicles operate in downtown Denver. You must not turn in front of one of these vehicles and check carefully before crossing the tracks. If it is your first time to drive in the United States, click here for more driving tips.
