Through fifteen galleries spanning more than six centuries, this spectacular showcase offers the unique opportunity to view some of America's most significant firearm treasures. The Old Town Hall is the social and architectural cornerstone of the city. Joseph Willard presented the Hall as a gift to the citizens of Fairfax. The building is characterized by the classical revival style Hall and it retains much of its original woodwork. The Old Town Hall is a wonderful place to visit as it represents a landmark of Fairfax.
The Belnheim Estate was purchased by Fairfax in early 1999 to preserve and develop it into a Civil War House museum and open-air park. The site hosts the Fairfax Civil War Weekend held annually in the first weekend in May. The house also contains one of the most voluminous and best-preserved examples of Civil War graffiti in the nation, providing an important insight into the typical soldier life during the Civil War.
Chocolate Lovers Festival is held in the heart of the Old Town Fairfax in early March and it includes events such as craft shows, historic building open houses, children's activities, collections of vendors selling various edible chocolate products, and even chocolate sculpture contests. It is a delicious festival that must not be missed.
