The Long Island Sound is one of the two most important beach areas to be found near Greenwich. It is made up out of three smaller beaches: Island Beach, Byram Beach and Greenwich Point. The Bruce Museum of Arts and Science 
is the perfect place to visit in order to broaden your knowledge on the said subjects. The small museum in Greenwich actually holds an impressive collection of around 15,000 artifacts, related to the fields of arts and culture, natural history, decorations and anthropology. The museum has two other locations in the city: one in the Point Park, with items connected to the beach, and a mobile van with artifacts, which travels around town.

The Greenwich Arts Council
 hosts numerous exhibitions and collections related to the artistic development of the local community. Great art works in terms of paintings, sculptures and photographs can be admired here. The council is the main organiser of the cultural events of the town, such as: Art to the Avenue, Literary Lights, Sand Blast and Kite Flying Festival. Located on the coast of the Long Island Sound, Greenwich, Connecticut is known for being an affluent place to live and to visit. The city is full of places to play, expensive shops to browse and museums to learn history. Here are a few things not to miss in Greenwich.

1. Visit Putnam's Cottage: Also called Knapp's Tavern in honor of its first residents, this house currently serves as a museum where artifacts of Colonial America are on display. One of the cottage's claims to fame is that George Washington once ate lunch at the home.

2. Explore downtown Greenwich: Expensive restaurants, exclusive boutiques and impressive antique shops line the one-way street that runs through the downtown area.

3. See the Bruce Museum of Arts and Science: Permanent collections include various works of American and European art; a science center that holds meteorites, minerals and fossils; and a marine tank stocked with live animals.

4. Go to the Beach: Spend an afternoon at one of the city's four beaches. If you wish to spend a day in the sun, you can choose from Island Beach, Great Captain Beach, Byram Beach and Greenwich Point. If you prefer fresh water, Byram Beach is home to the city's only swimming pool.

5. Visit Calf Island: This natural habitat is protected by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, but is open to the public for hiking, taking pictures, fishing and observing wildlife.
