Most travelers heading for Kailua will fly into Honolulu International Airport. Located on the western end of Honolulu, the airport has six rental car companies that are on the airport grounds. Convenient to customers, their registration counters are near the baggage claims. Four additional car rental agencies are reachable via shuttles. These pick up and drop off along the airport's center median on the ground level outside baggage claim. Kailua's most popular destination for visitors is probably Kailua Beach. Situated on the Windward Coast, it's about a 30 minute-drive in your rental car to or from Waikiki. This local favorite beach is popular for water sports, and you'll quickly see (or maybe you'll even be) a visitor windsurfing and parasailing. And many kayak rental, diving and beach clothing shops are within walking distance.

Wouldn't you love to bathe in the beauty and compare the cheapest car hires in Kailua?

The beach is ideal for your car rental-enabled adventures. Once you've parked – and beware, it can be hard to find a spot – you can kayak to nearby Flat Island, or even venture out to the “Twin Islands”, properly known as the Mokulua Islands. There are other local beaches nearby, including Kalama Beach to the west (which is great for family trips) and gorgeous Lanikai Beach, nestled in a suburban neighborhood.

As you drive to any of these beaches, you'll be passing through Kailua Town. This quaint small town lies along Kailua Road, with a wide variety of shopping, restaurants and picnic areas to enjoy! You must stop your rental car here, if only to try a delicious shaved ice on a hot Hawaii day! Kailua is just a more laid-back and relaxing town compared to Waikiki and Honolulu. You'll be happy that you have booked your car rental in Kailua using VroomVroomVroom when you take that quick half-hour drive and visit the quiet, beautiful and fun place!

Kailua is a small coastal city on the island of O'ahu, situated 12 miles northeast of Honolulu. Kailua's name means “two seas” in the native Hawaiian language, because of the two nearby lagoons. Several television shows have filmed in and around beautiful Kailua, including the original Hawaii Five-O, Magnum, P.I., and Lost. Kailua is home to the largest wetland in the state, Kawai Nui Marsh.

Once you've taken your car rental on the beautiful drive to Kailua, it's time to catch some rays! Kailua Beach, which has been called the best beach in the United States, is the most popular attraction. At about two-and-a-half miles long and about 100 feet wide, it's a magnificent location for sunbathing and relaxing. The water and waves at the beach are described as perfect for swimming, surfing and bodysurfing, with gentle underwater sloping and depths that reach an average person's height. Steady trade winds also make Kailua Beach a great windsurfing and kitesurfing spot. Sea kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are also popular water activities at the beach.

Another very popular beach is Lanikai Beach. This is an equally gorgeous but much smaller beach in an upscale neighborhood of Kailua, but be forewarned: it has no public parking, bathrooms or lifeguards.

For a change of pace, get into your car rental and check out Kawai Nui Marsh. With a two-mile levee running alongside it, it's perfect for morning jogging or romantic evening walks. The marsh's 830 acres of land protect four endangered species of Hawaiian birds – coots, ducks, moorhens and stilts.
