Kailua is a small coastal city on the island of O'ahu, situated 12 miles northeast of Honolulu. Kailua's name means “two seas” in the native Hawaiian language, because of the two nearby lagoons. Kailua is home to the largest wetland in the state, Kawai Nui Marsh.
