The Keene Pumpkin Festival is perhaps the major event of the year in Keene. The festival is celebrated every year, around Halloween. The greatest thing about this festival is that it reunites all the community members, in the attempt of displaying the largest number of jack-o'-lanterns. The first edition of the festival was held in 1991, and the first world record followed the next year.
The Keene Public Library is an excellent cultural facility, which provides both tourists and locals with many reading possibilities. The library holds its numerous volumes in a beautiful mansion that was built somewhere around 1869, in an impressive Second Empire style. The architect was Henry Colony.
