Olustee Battle Festival takes places in Lake City every year, in February. The festival was first held in 1976 and it currently manages to draw thousands of people to attend the celebrations. The Olustee Battle Festival is hosted by Lake City over a period of two weeks and the events include a parade, the battle reenactment, exhibits and craft shows, dancing shows, running races and visits to Columbia County Historical Museum. However, this is not the only impressive event to be hosted by Lake City, as the city is also home to Alligator Festival.
Lake City Columbia County Historical Museum depicts the history of the city and the entire area. In this amazing cultural venue you will be able to visit numerous exhibits and historical artifacts. The museum is located in a beautiful house, which dates back to the 1870s. Each room in this museum is dedicated to a certain historical period, while in one of the rooms here you will be able to see weapons and uniforms dating to the period of the Civil War.
