Fort Stellacoom is a former military fortification and it was founded in 1849 near Lake Stellacoom. It was built due to civilian agitation after a massacre that happened in the area in 1847. In 1871 the construction became an asylum and now it serves as an attraction for tourists. Four cottages of the fort can be visited, having a great historical museum inside.
Lakewood Gardens is a non profit garden located in the city, opened all year long to visitors. The mission of the NGO running the Lakewood Gardens is to offer each and every visitor a beautiful and pristine experience while seeing this amazing place. The gardens were designed by owner Eulalie Wagner in collaboration with architect Thomas Church.
Lakewood Playhouse was opened in 1938 and hosts an 180-seat theater running famous plays and controversial movies and documentaries like Stuff Happens and Once in a Lifetime.
