Montgomery is a city located in the state of Texas, with a population of 489 residents, as of the 2000 census. Montgomery is the birth place of the Lone Star Flag of Texas. Montgomery was founded in the middle of the Lake Creek Settlement by WW Shepperd on 200 acres of land. The town of Montgomery, Texas, was named after Montgomery Alabama, which was named after Lemuel Montgomery, who was killed in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.
