Morristown is a lovely city in the state of Tennessee, United States, located more exactly in Hamblen County and being its county seat at the same time. The history of Morristown began during the 1770s, when the area was inhabited by Cherokee tribes. Then, Gideon Morris and his family moved on the area, in 1775, on which Morristown now stands, so it is obvious where the city got its name from.
Since then, Morristown knew a thorough development, and it is now a major commercial and social hub of the region. Currently, there are 29.137 people living in Morristown, according to the 2010 census, making it the major city in the Morristown Metropolitan Area. Morristown is also a great tourist spot, so do not hesitate in visiting it if you are in the area.
Panther Creek State Park is a wonderful recreational facility in the core of the nature, where everyone will have a good time, regardless of the age. The park is located on the shore of Cherokee Reservoir and spans on about 1,435 acres. You will get to see here a wide array of wildlife, but you could also go hiking, fishing or boating.
The Crockett Tavern Museum is a replica of the historic tavern which used to belong to John Crockett. The original tavern was built in 1790, so it is a great historic landmark of Morristown. You will also see here numerous artifacts and historical items of that period, so you will learn some things about the history and culture of Morristown.
