Muncie, also known as "Middletown USA", is a city located in Center Township, Delaware County, Indiana, United States of America. Muncie was first settled in the 1770s by Delaware Indians. Fifty years later they were forced to leave this land when white settlers occupied the area. Muncie was among the options for a state capital, as it is located along the White River. Muncie was incorporated as a city in 1865. The city was named Muncie after Munsee Town - this is how the white settlers used to call the Indian village.
