Nederland is a wonderful city located in the state of Texas, United States. Situated in Jefferson County, Nederland has a population of more than 17,500 residents on an area of exactly 5.7 square miles (14.8 square kilometers). Nederland was founded in 1897 by the Dutch settlers of the area and the name of the city actually means "Low Lands". Throughout the years, Nederland has managed to develop amazingly, mostly due to the rice and dairy farming.
