New Bern is a wonderful city located in North Carolina, United States. The county seat of Craven County, New Bern has an area of 27.0 square miles (69.9 square kilometers) and a population of over 29,500 inhabitants, as the 2010 census indicated. New Bern is situated at the confluence of Trent and Neuse rivers, which manage to offer some lovely views to the city. New Bern was first settled as an Indian town under the name of Chattoka. However, the city was founded under its current name in 1710, actually being named after the capital of Switzerland, Bern. New Bern is one of the oldest, but also the most important cities in the area. With a great historical heritage, the city in which Pepsi Cola was born, New Bern is a popular tourist destination.

Tryon Palace Historic Site and Gardens should be visited by all tourists arriving in New Bern.
