Opelika is a beautiful city located in Alabama, United States. Opelika is the county seat of Lee County and the city has an area of 59 square miles (152.8 square kilometers). At the 2010 cesus, Opelika had a population of more than 26,400 residents. The city was first settled in the 1830s as a community named Lebenon. Starting with 1868, the area began to be known as Opelika. Since the 1840s, the city began developing as a commercial center, with an economy based on textile manufacturing.
