Pitman is a lovely Borough in the state of New Jersey, United States, located more exactly in Gloucester County. The history of Pitman goes back to 1871, when a Methodist summer camp was erected in the area. Cottages began growing in the area which was then called Pitman Grove, and by the 1880s, there were more than 400 cottages in the area. Later on, Pitman Grove became incorporates in 1905 as an autonomous borough and the National Register of Historic Places listed it as a historic site in 1977. Pitman has a total population of 9,199, according to the 2006 census. Even though it is a little borough, Pitman praise itself with being ‘The Small Town with a Big Heart’, which is its motto.
