Portland is a beautiful city located in Cumberland County, Maine, United States of America. Portland also is the county seat of Cumberland County. The population of the city includes more than 67.000 residents living on an area of 52.6 square miles. Portland is also named "The Forest City" and its motto in Latin "Resurgam" means "I Will Rise Again". The seal of the city is in the same tone with the motto, depicting a phoenix bird rising from its ashes. The first European settler arrived in Portland in 1623 and the locality was settled 10 years later. On July 4, 1786, Portland was finally incorporated.
