Rio Piedras a wonderful district of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Rio Piedras is well known for being the home of University of Puerto Rico's main campus. Rio Piedras was founded in 1714, but incorporated as a municipality only in 1951, when it became part of the capital city San Juan. Rio Piedras was known for many years under the name of El Roble, which has actually been the official name of the area when it was first settled. Then, it was changed for Rio Piedras to be named after the river that crossed its territory. Rio Piedras has a population of more than 332,300 residents and it includes itself more than 15 districts.

San Juan Botanical Garden is located in the proximity of Rio Piedras and this is such a beautiful natural venue that it would surely be a pity to not visit it.
