2. The Discovery Science Center. Love dinosaurs, space and other cool science stuff? Drop by the Discovery Science Center for hours of fun and learning. This two-floor museum has exhibits about earthquakes, rocketry and even gives visitors a chance to experience what it's like to lie down on a bed of 3,500 nails in its Perception exhibit.
3. Captain Dave's Dolphin Safari. In nearby Dana Point, see dolphins and whales at Captain Dave's Dolphin Safari. The crew at Captain Dave's brings its guests out on a catamaran to study these sea creatures and even get to hear them through special equipment!4. Toshiba Tall Ships Festival. If ships are your thing, make sure to plan your trip around the Toshiba Tall Ships Festival, the largest gathering of tall ships on the West Coast. Each year in the late summer, guests explore the historic tall ships and listen to the crew share tales of adventure.
5. Visit Catalina Island. Climb aboard a ferry to Catalina Island (above), one of the West Coast's most popular destinations. Santa Catalina is famous for its spectacular views, shopping, museums and magnificent homes.
