Trenton is a vibrant city in the state of New Jersey, United States, located more exactly in Mercer County, and being its county seat and the state capital, at the same time. 1. Watch a game. Trenton is home to the Trenton Thunder AA baseball team, an affiliate of the New York Yankees. The Trenton Titans are the AA affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team. Whether winter or summer, you'll find a game to watch in Trenton.
2. Visit the William Trent House Museum. William Trent, after whom Trenton was named, built this house around 1719. Lovingly restored, you can step inside and step back in time—but with electric lights for better viewing!
3. Watch a show at the Patriots Theatre. A stunning facility in the Renaissance Revival style, it is inside the War Memorial, built in 1932 to honor the fallen in the “war to end all wars”. Greats such as Marion Anderson, Bob Hope, and Louis Armstrong have performed here.
4. Shop a gallery. Downtown Trenton has an amazing list of galleries carrying everything from the traditional oils and prints to beautiful ceramics and even Jewish items. Bring home a beautiful reminder of your visit.
5. Tour the Grounds for Sculpture. Both inside (traditional sculpture) and outside (landscape sculpture) you'll find amazing works by contemporary artists within the 35 acre park. Open 10-6 year-round, Tuesday-Sunday. Eat a light snack at the gazebo by the lily pond, grab lunch at the café, or enjoy fine dining at Rat's, a French restaurant.
Cadwalder Park is a great recreational place in Trenton, designed by the same architect who designed the famous New York City's Central Park. With a small lake, a deer paddock, a stream, and hundreds of trees, the park has become one of the most popular attractions in Trenton.
The New Jersey State Museum is the cultural institution in Trenton that will teach you all about the history, culture and heritage of the state. The museum also features a planetarium and auditorium. With an impressive collection of over 2 million specimens, this museum is definitely a must see.
The Old Barracks Museum is one of the few remaining colonial British Army barracks in the state, dating back to the Revolutionary War. The museum opened in 1914 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. The Trenton Battle Monument is located nearby.
