Walker is a beautiful city of Kent County, Michigan, United States of America. Walker is located near several unincorporated communities like Ada, Belmont, Cascade and Dutton and is a suburb of Grand Rapids. Before being incorporated as Walker, it was known as Walker Township. Walker was settled on December 30, 1837.

1 - The Edison House: The Walker Historical Museum is relocating to the Edison House, named after the family who originally developed the plat into a farm in the late 1830s. The family's 1890 home, Spring Hill Park, will house the museum, and the grounds will feature walking trails, flower and vegetable gardens, and a woodshed recreated to its original design from the old Edison farm.
2 - Winter sports: Ski magazine has named Michigan as the Midwest's top ski destination. Resorts near Walker include the Cannonburg ski area, which also has summer pop concerts by the Grand Rapids Symphony; the Pando Ski Area with a vertical drop of 125 feet from a summit of 700 feet, six lifts, and seven cross-country trails, and snowboarding and -tubing on 55 acres; and Mulligan's Hollow Ski Bowl within Grand Rapids, a small local ski area catering to kids at beginning to intermediate levels with six ski trails, eight snowboarding trails, night skiing, and a Terrain Park. In addition to skiing, the Walker Ice and Fitness Center has a National Hockey League-size sheet of ice, hockey and skating programs, and ice and ski rental.
3 - Great Lakes Naval and Memorial Museum: In nearby Muskegon on vast Lake Michigan, the USS Silversides submarine is the chief attraction. She was commissioned into the U.S. Navy on December 15, 1941, just eight days after the attack on Pearl Harbor. She served with the Pacific Fleet along Japan's coasts and in the East China Sea, as well as through key enemy shipping routes. The Silversides sank 30 ships and damaged 14 ships, and ranks third-highest among all World War II U.S. submarines in ships sunk. The site also houses the U.S. Coast Guard's USS McLane cutter from 1927. Scout, church and other youth-oriented organizations may book an overnight stay aboard either ship.
4 - Grand Rapids cultural venues: The city has Michigan's only professional ballet and opera companies, America's second-largest community theatre, one of the nation's finest regional orchestras, touring Broadway shows, performance art and improv comedy, the Midwest's leading sculpture park, art museums for traditionalists and modernists with galleries from the city to the lakeshore, a local and national music acts in cabarets and nightclubs, a 12,000-seat arena, outdoor concerts in Frederik Meijer Gardens, and a downtown pedestrian mall.
5 - Lake Michigan beaches: The Walker area has been name one of the world's top 25 lakeshores, with one of America's top five beaches. Charming resort towns and villages offer shopping, dining, entertainment, colorful sunsets, and sand dunes and fresh, clear waters. Grand Haven State Park, due west of Grand Rapids, has a half-mile of beach for biking, boating, fishing, and hiking in 48 acres bounded by the Grand River to the north. The park has campsites, a picnic area, playground equipment, a pier and lighthouse, a boardwalk, and a metal-detecting area.
Public Museum of Grand Rapids is a great attraction you can admire near Walker. The museum depicts the life of the early settlers and shows visitors an image about the life in the area of nowadays Grand Rapids and its suburbs before the European settlement in the area. John Ball Zoo is another beautiful point of interest located nearby Walker, in a beautiful natural area. The zoo has about 1,200 animals from all around the world. Among them: Komodo dragons, penguins and lions. For the kids, there are petting areas, playgrounds and picnic areas. Within the zoo there is also a great themed restaurant and a shop where you can buy beautiful souvenirs.
Qdoba Mexican Grill is a casual restaurant located downtown Walker. The family friendly establishment offers healthy dishes, mostly belonging to the Mexican cuisine. The food is always fresh and is rapidly served. The specialties of the house that are excellent: Pico de Gallo and Taco Salad.
Fazoli's is an Italian eatery downtown Walker. The food is amazing, it always comes fast and is served hot. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the prices are moderate.
