South Mountain Reservation is a nature preserve that is partly situated in West Orange and partly in the neighboring cities. It has an area of 2,047 acres and incorporates a part of the Watchung Mountains. The highest points of the reservation offer lovely views of New York and New Jersey. The reservation was established in 1895 and since then it is a major touristic attraction for the area and for the nearby cities, as West Orange is.
Eagle Rock Reservation is a forest reserve that is partially located in West Orange, in the Watchung Mountains. The park is named after a bare rock from the mountains that marks the town limits of West Orange and Montclair. This attraction has 408 acres and from its highest point, you can admire the Manhattan skyline. Inside the park you can also see a memorial in the honor of the victims of 9/11.
