Zephyrhills is a small suburban city along U.S. Route 301, northeast of Tampa Bay area in Florida. Zephyrhills was originally founded as Abbot Station, Florida, a planned community for aging veterans of the United States Civil War. Zephyrhills Municipal Airport (airport code: ZPH) is located about a mile from the downtown area. It is used for general aviation purposes rather than commercial flights. However, the airport has a long history of skydiving since Skydive City, Inc., founded in 1990, operates a skydiving center “drop zone” on the southeast side of the airport.
